Search Law Areas
Consulting with a few attorneys beforehand is very important because the attorney/client relationship is going to be based on comfort level and trust. You may be seeking a lawyer for short-term purposes, but in the event that you need an attorney long-term or for another situation, an established comfort level and trust is valuable.
The lawyer should be able to answer your questions without having to research your situation then get back to you. If they do have to research your situation first, that's an indication that your legal situation is not one of their primary areas of expertise. If that happens, you may want to move on to the nest attorney on your list.
The attorney should have you feeling confident that your legal situation can be resolved cost effectively. Understand that in most law firms, the lawyer you have chosen will not be the only one working on your case. You will most likely communicate with a few people in the law firm who range from attorneys to assistants to interns. Therefore, the people you come in contact with at the law firm should also make you feel confident that they know what they are doing.
